1 Overview & Architecture
MediaHUB ("we", "our", or "us") provides a personal media streaming hub client application for Android, Android TV, and Web browsers.
MediaHUB operates on a client-server architecture designed for personal and home streaming. The app acts as a player that connects to your designated MediaHUB server instance. We respect your digital privacy and do not sell, track, or harvest your personal media library content or viewing habits.
2 Information We Collect
MediaHUB is engineered with privacy-by-design principles:
- Account & Authentication Credentials: When you log into your MediaHUB server, authentication tokens (JWT) are stored securely on your local device (in encrypted local storage) to maintain your login session. These tokens are transmitted exclusively to your server host over secure HTTPS/WSS protocols.
- Playback Progress & State: Resume timestamps, watch history, and audio preferences (such as Dialogue Booster / Speech Clear toggle states) are stored locally and synced to your server database to provide seamless multi-device playback.
- Device Information: Basic device parameters (such as screen dimensions, OS type, and player audio capabilities) are processed strictly on-device to select compatible video codecs and audio formats.
- No Telemetry / No Ad Tracking: We do NOT employ third-party ad networks, tracking SDKs, behavioral analytics, or location trackers.
3 Application Permissions & Usage
The MediaHUB Android & Android TV applications request only the minimum system permissions necessary to provide media playback functionality:
- INTERNET: Required to connect to your designated media server and stream audio/video content.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to monitor network connectivity (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Mobile) and smoothly adapt stream bitrates.
- WAKE_LOCK: Prevents the screen or device from going to sleep while a video or live stream is actively playing.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Allows continuous audio and video playback when switching apps or controlling media via system notifications.
4 Content & Copyright Responsibility
MediaHUB is a software media player (analogous to VLC, Kodi, or Jellyfin). The application itself does not bundle, host, or distribute proprietary media files or copyrighted broadcasts.
Users and server administrators are solely responsible for ensuring that any content streamed, stored, or indexed complies with applicable local and international copyright laws and Intellectual Property regulations.
5 Data Storage & Security
Your credentials and personal configuration reside exclusively on your device and your designated server. We employ industry-standard cryptographic techniques (salted Argon2/bcrypt password hashing, dynamic random JWT keys, HTTPS/TLS encryption) to secure all communication against unauthorized interception.
6 Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
MediaHUB does not knowingly collect or solicit personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13. Because no personal user data is collected by central third-party servers, our service complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
7 User Rights & Data Deletion
You retain complete control over your data at all times. You can clear all cached credentials, watch history, and app data at any time directly through the application settings or the Android system Application Manager ("Clear Data"). Server administrators can purge user records instantly from the Admin Dashboard.
